So what do teachers do over the summer? We do take some vacation time, but most of us spend many hours in professional development, tutoring or teaching summer school. I know I will be teaching a semester course packed into 3 weeks of June, taking 2 courses online and attending a workshop at Carnegie Mellon University (Computer Science for High School Teachers). For my vacation, I will be spending two glorious weeks in North Carolina hiking and shopping and generally relaxing. All this and back to work on August 9th!
I was reading one of my favorite blogs today - Kathy Schrock's Kaffeeklatsch- and was intrigued by her concept of Bloom's Taxonomy. We all studied it and use it when preparing our lessons, but her thoughts were spurned by a few blogs she reads. She was all too unimpressed with a new concept of "flipping Bloom's Taxonomy" and I quite agree. She then gives this model below of her idea of Bloom's Taxonomy. Though it is a good concept, I think it needs a little tweaking visually. Somehow the gears need to connect more than to just the creative portion. Not sure how to make it work, but I get what she is trying to show with her image.
